Golden Medals and Distinctions at the Asia Wine Trophy for 5 NICO LAZARIDI wines!

The 3 Nico Lazaridi wines that have won the gold medal at Asia Wine Trophy awards 2023

Golden Medals and Distinctions at the Asia Wine Trophy for 5 NICO LAZARIDI wines!

3 gold and 2 bronze medals for the wines of NICO LAZARIDI that participated in the international wine competition “Asia Wine Trophy” held last week in the city of Daejeon, South Korea!

In the biggest and most important wine competition in the contenent of Asia, the two premium wines PERPETUUS Red 2019 and Evil Eye Rosé 2022 as well as the debutant Cavalieri MALAGOUSIA 2022 received high scores and were each distinguished with a gold medal. The popular whites PERPETUUS Chardonnay 2021 and Cavalieri ASSYRTIKO 2022 also stood out as they were distinguished in category 4, which is equivalent to the bronze medal of the competition.

The Asia Wine Trophy is held annually in South Korea and is organized under the auspices and under the rules of the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine). More than 4,300 wines from all over the world participated in it. For 4 days, 140 judges from all over the world tasted, singled out and awarded NICO LAZARIDI’s wines!

It is worth noting that the distinction of PERPETUUS Red and Evil Eye Rosé comes almost a month after the 2 gold medals they won at the Berliner Wine Trophy, the important wine competition in Berlin.

The noble origin of the premium red wine PERPETUUS Red is highlighted by its special varietal composition, the application of red vinification with long post-fermentation extraction and the absence of filtration. A wine with a special character, distinguished by the use of the Mavroudi variety (60%), known since ancient times as it has its roots in the homeland of Dionysus, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. The combination with the Cabernet Franc variety (40%) gives exceptional complexity to the wine.

Evil Eye Rosé, the premium rosé wine from 100% Xinomavro is Nico Lazaridi’s proposal for a culinary rosé wine from a Greek Variety, which is associated with Northern Greece. During the vinification, the aim was to bring out the fresh aromas of the variety and to combine the high acidity with the oiliness created thanks to the battonage with the lees for 5 months. A wine that goes well with fish and shellfish and that you can also enjoy by itself as an aperitif.

Following the Sommelier Choice Awards and Decanter competitions, where earlier this year the debutant Cavalieri MALAGOUSIA distinguished itself with the bronze medal, September turned out to be… made of gold! High rating and high distinction lead to a Gold Medal for NICO LAZARIDI’s single-varietal wine from the regenerated Greek variety Malagousia. Aiming to achieve a greater aromatic complexity, the vinification temperatures were kept low and, thanks to the contact with the lees after fermentation, the intensity of the monotonous terpenic character was reduced.
