The Magic Mountain – a name, a legend, a wine that satisfies all senses. It refers to the Mount Pangeon that rises impressively opposite the Château Νico Lazaridi Winery and relatesto the worship of Dionysus, the treasure hunting by Alexander the Great and constitu-tes a crossroad for cultures between East and West for thousands of years.

The Magic Mountain red wine, produced from the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, since its first release in 1990 and until today is an unsurpassed product, with divine, noble and mystic flavour, characteristics of NICO LAZARIDI superior wines.

ICON WINE

Its fans seek it every year, not only for its taste, but also for its unique bottle that changes its label after every new harvest. This years label is an art work made by greek and now New York based artist Giorgos Taxidis. His goal was “to bring the viewer to a two-way silent discussion between him and the painting. To look to each other in the eye and reveal all their secrets”. Taxidi’s artwork as well as all the paintings that were featured on the label MAGIC MOUNTAIN are on display at the art gallery of the same same at Château Νico Lazaridi Winery.

 

Magic Mountain Red 2013 is available in Magnum, Double Magnum & Imperial bottles.

Type of wine: Dry Red Wine

Appellation: Protected Geographical Indication Agora

Varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon 50%, Cabernet Franc 50%

Production Area: Northern Greece, in Macedonia, at the local communities of Agora and Pigadia in the valley and the low hills on the South-East of Drama town.

Vineyards: linear planting, north-south orientation. Gently sloping vineyards, with sandy-clay soils of average composition.

Harvest: September

VinificationTechniques: Classic red wine vinification with a long extraction,  the proportion of the grape marcs/must increases in order to achieve a greater output in tannins. The wine ages for 18-20 months in new oak barrels and matures in the bottle additionally for 18 months in ideal cellar conditions.

Tasting Notes: It has an intense and deep ruby colour with light brownish sheens. In the nose, exuberant aromas of mature red fruits, violet, coffee and chocolate are combined harmoniously with the distinctive character of spices. On the palate, it is gentle and well balanced, having an aromatic richness and a long aftertaste.

Aging: Will respond well to aging for up to 10-15 years after harvest.

Perfect Pairing: Served at 18-20oC, an ideal accompaniment for red meat dishes with intricate sauces, game birds and other game meat and ripe spicy cheese.
