We are happy to announce that the Château Nico Lazaridi Red 2016 has just been awarded with the gold medal at the “Berliner Wein Trophy”, held this February in Germany.
Nico Lazaridi’s signature wine, which celebrates this year its 30th anniversary since its first vinification, excelled at the largest and most important international wine tasting in Germany, among 7.000 wines from all around the world. The 200 judges of the “Berliner Wein Trophy 2019 – Winter Tasting” tasted and singled out the Château Nico Lazaridi Red 2016, rewarding the renewal of its wine-making character and the changing of its varied composition, which now consists of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Sangiovese.
It is also worth mentioning that NICO LAZARIDI participated at the competition with two more wines, Château Nico Lazaridi White 2018 and Cavalieri Lazaridi White 2017, which were awarded in category 4. The latter is equivalent to the silver medal given in this competition.
The Berliner Wein Trophy started in 2004 and has since become the largest and most important international wine contest in Germany. Within three days, the jury of experts taste and rate the thousands of samples arriving in Berlin from all over the globe. On the fourth day, the coveted medals are awarded. Based on the restrictive guidelines, only 30% of the wines presented in the competition can be awarded with a medal, thus not allowing the distinction of many wines that scored high. For this reason, every medal given in the winter contest is considered very important. – a wine awarded to the BWT can only be a high-quality product, and therefore is highly appreciated among the wine-lovers all over the world.
In total, at the Berliner Wein Trophy 2019 – Winter Tasting 21 wines were awarded with the Grand Gold Medal, 1,985 with the Gold Medal and 256 with the Silver Medal.
